Today as we think of the passing of George Formby on 06 March 1961, the
one person surely to help us all to remember the best of our hero and to
speak about him on Times Radio, is John Walley.
In September 1961 when The George Formby Society met in Blackpool for
the very first time, John was one of the founder members.
Just who else has the dignity, knowledge, personality and charm to represent
our Society in the public eye?
John fits the bill so well. This interview lasted less than four minutes but for so
many listeners, it could have gone on and on!
I am thankful that on this significant day, John was available to remember
George Formby on Times Radio, a station that broadcasts throughout the UK
and even further afield. He once again informed listeners in just a few brief
words just how good George Formby was for the masses who loved him in
the 30's, 40s and right up to the present day.
