SATURDAY’S DRESS CODE - 1940’S!!!!
For the last meeting of 2018 we are having one of our very special
“Wartime Concerts” when, on Saturday evening, we will perform
George Formby’s war-time hits and all be dressed in 1940’s fashion.
Not necessarily uniforms and certainly not restricted to those people
who go on stage to entertain. Ladies and
gentlemen of the audience are also
invited to turn up in 1940’s dress and in
the past we have had some wonderful
and highly inventive costumes.
The film on Saturday evening is the
rarely seen BBC documentary on
George and features the Society from
1982. Entitled “40 Minutes” it lasts
just that length of time which will allow
us all to devote much more time than
usual to the
concert.
So ladies and
gentleman of
the GFS, your
Society needs
you to turn up
sporting the latest trending fashions of the 1930’s/1940’s. Perhaps
Beryl’s ENSA uniform might also be on show somewhere?
It should be a great evening. In the past when we have done a
wartime concert everyone has responded in exactly the right spirit so
let us all make the effort and I can promise you that you will not
regret it!
Who can forget the magnificent 2011 wartime concert or the one we
all enjoyed in 2015? If you missed out on those, now is your
opportunity to get involved, don’t forget your gas masks!
