A return to Morecambe Winter Gardens
After two highly successful and memorable meetings at Morecambe Winter Gardens, held in 2013 and 2014,
the GFS committee have arranged a return to this iconic venue for a one-day meeting to be held in August
2022.
It will be interesting to go back after 7 or 8 years to see what progress might have been made. I remember that both one-day meetings got good support from GFS members from all points of the UK. We should have a great weekend!
GFS COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT
It is with great pleasure that the Executive Committee announce a one day Convention at Morecambe to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Morecambe Winter Gardens. George Formby appeared here several times during his 40 year stage career, including wartime theatrical gala shows and Harold Fielding’s “Music For The Millions” productions. The GFS have already held two successful conventions here in 2013 and 2014, both events were extremely popular. The GFS will hold this special convention on Saturday 6th August 2022 and further details will be announced in “The Vellum”. Here’s your chance to play on the same stage as a George Formby, Laurel & Hardy, Laurence Olivier, and Morecambe & Wise!

The meeting will begin around 12 noon and end at 5pm for tea. An evening concert will begin at 7pm and conclude by 11pm Saturday night. The Winter Gardens has a small café and bar facilities which will be available throughout the day.
