A very successful Zoom GFS Thrash session was conducted last Friday (26/05/2023) to celebrate the birth of George Formby on 26 May 1904. It was reported that forty screens were in attendance although the official photo shows thirty-eight, with at least forty-seven people within those screens. For around eighty minutes Peter Pollard assisted by GFS President Andrew Poppleton introduced and played twenty-five classic George Formby thrash songs to members and friends of The George Formby Society. I feel sure that those on-screen enjoyed the session just as much as Peter and Andy did. It proved to be a nice introduction to the countdown to the forthcoming Blackpool Convention on the 3rd and 4th of June. The GFS is thankfully now gaining ground again with new members and returning members after the long, miserable pandemic where we all witnessed many businesses, groups and clubs close, some sadly never to return.
