No stranger to the TV lights or the press, GFS member James Bassett is to appear on national TV on Wednesday in Dawn French’s Little Big Shots. The programme airs between 8pm to 9pm on ITV. James has been a concert favourite in Blackpool at our conventions since he first joined in 2010 and every one of his performances have been top-notch. I feel sure that Dawn French, the live audience and the viewing public will be in for a treat on Wednesday when James sings and talks about Mr Formby. He narrowly missed out on making it through to the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 making it to the last 170 acts from more than 60,000 hopefuls. His knowledge on his subject and his personality and his talent are sure to impress so let me say congratulations to James for putting George Formby back on national TV. It is the young members who are the future of our Society and that future is assured with young people like James Bassett.

James Bassett Triumphson Little Big ShotsJames Bassett appeared on Little Big Shots on ITV and hostess Dawn French summed it all up perfectly when she said, “Honestly James, this is one of the highlights of Little Big Shots for me.”From the moment he appeared on our screens, James was just brilliant! No nerves and oodles of talent, charm and personality projected him in to the nations hearts with his singing and his chat and definitely his playing skills. His Gibson banjo-uke sounded beautiful, as clear as a bell!We in the GFS have watched James right from the start of his Society appearances in September 2010 and we have always been charmed by what he could produce - but last night James was at his best and not only entertained the nation, he did a wonderful service for the name of George Formby and for our beloved Society. His mum and dad and all the family must be so thrilled this morning.Well done James, you did us all proud!
