I understand that GFS member Fred Stevenson has recently passed away. Fred came from Alsager near Stoke-on-Trent and was very active at the Crewe branch. He was also well known throughout the playing section of the GFS owing to the fact that he made numerous quality instruments for the members. Fred was 89 years old. I remember Fred at the Blackpool conventions, especially when he used to yodel! He was always a popular and talented entertainer and although I have never owned one, I understand that the instruments that he created and repaired were held in high regard by those who have them. Fred was also known when he performed in gigs as Steve Henson. On behalf of everyone within our Society who knew Fred, I offer his family our sincere condolences. PP October 2018
