Sadly I have to report the death of GFS member Brian Webb. Brian had been a member of the Society for over twenty five years. He would attend the Blackpool meetings and also The Castleford GFS branch when we ran at the Shoulder of Mutton with “Tetley Dave”. He also supported the Pudsey Plonkers ukulele meeting when they ran for a few years between 2003 and approximately 2012. Brian was also a regular at the Yorkshire Ukulele Circle. Brian’s wife Ruth would also attend with him. Brian enjoyed doing charity work alongside his good friends Ken Smith and Denis Wilson. They would support many worthy causes but one that was close to their hears was Yorkshire Air Ambulance and on one occasion the three lads in one day raised £650 for the YAA by entertaining and playing their ukuleles. It is sad that we only meet our friends when we get together with a ukulele so we know so little about each other. I do know though that Brian really enjoyed playing and singing whenever he could and he had a nice sense of humour and always had a twinkle in his eye. My sincere condolences go to Brian’s wife Ruth and to his family. Peter Pollard 20 July 2018
