Bill Denver
Batterred boater was Bill’s stage trademark
I learned recently of the death of a good Society friend, Bill Denver. Bill and his son Mark were especially active within the Society in the 1990's when they used to dress the stage at the Blackpool Winter Garden conventions. Bill was a popular entertainer and enjoyed singing songs in the style of Max Miller. He never went on stage without wearing a hat and my favourite was his battered straw-boater which was really his trade mark. Bill was always a welcome visitor to the Continent when he attended festivals and meetings in Holland, Belgium and Sweden for quite a few years. I and many others always enjoyed Bill’s company and the company of his son Mark when they came to the Blackpool conventions. I also very much enjoyed Bill’s performances and I send my sincere condolences to Mark and his family Peter Pollard, 17th May 2016
