formby on film
Print room operator develops a finger marking
system which incriminates his newspaper
editor who counterfeits money under cover of
a brewery. One of the rare films in which the
star gives his girlfriend a full-blooded kiss in
the final fade-out.

Leslie Halliwell's Film Guide
A newspaper printer catches counterfeiters.
Lively star comedy.
What more could you ask for? Another George
Formby release (his second that year), the
lovely Googie Withers, plenty of action and - it
all takes place around a brewery - lovely, get
the beer in!
George sings three of his best songs and the
film is definitely up there with the best of them.
The familiar face of Garry Marsh helps to
make this onea winner! The uke solo in
'Fanlight Fanny' is far superior to the one that
George recorded for the release of the hit
record.
